Durban Wanderers Sports Club nestles in a secluded area of Montclair, one of Durban’s Southern suburbs. It boasts 3 well maintained busy bowling greens; active tennis, squash, soccer and indoor cricket sections, as well as a busy snooker room with three tables. Its golf section members arrange regular tournaments and competitions at various and diverse venues.
Vic’s bar runs the full length of its large air conditioned room with tables, stools and chairs scattered throughout. It also boasts 2 large TVs and 2 smaller ones positioned conveniently across the area of the bar. On any given Saturday, a choice of say Rugby Soccer Cricket or Horse-racing could be viewed on one or the other TV set at the same time. Delicious meals can be savored either at the bar or at the inhouse restuarant run by the well known Gounden family. Take-aways are a popular alternative.
Sunset drinks may be enjoyed on the large sundeck off the main bar offering magnificent elevated views across the greens with Durban in the background. One of the greens is floodlit allowing members to play night bowls, and a popular night bowls league takes place every year. The clubs’ large hall is regularly hired out for functions such as weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations. The club is flourishing on its own freehold land. Plans are afoot for a massive re-modelling and revamp of the entire building and surrounds as well as the construction of a five lane indoor bowls rink.
All this in exchange for the lease of a far corner of the land to a large developer. This will almost certainly make Durban Wanderers a highly sought after haven for those seeking a touch of class and a mixture of everything you could want in a composite sports club.

You are doing a tremendous job for the Bowls and main club,Well done and keep it up,every club needs dedicated members like you,
Thanks again,
Eric Redman
A well rounded and informative site.
Brought back fond memories of having a few beers with Uncle Sidney (Lockem) in the excellent and friendly Vic’s bar.
